Perinatal selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and other antidepressant exposure effects on anxiety and depressive behaviors in offspring: A review of findings in humans and rodent models

چکیده

The developmental impact of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and other antidepressant treatments during gestation postpartum on anxiety depression behaviors in offspring is unclear. This review focuses how perinatal exposure to SSRI may have long term consequences for these affective early childhood beyond. Outcomes vary consideration given methodological factors related affects developments studied rodent models such as: a) between pre- post-natal exposure, b) sex, c) experimental gestational maternal stress d) non-SSRI medications. We will also multiple contextual (maternal caregiving gene x environment interactions) contribute the effects mental illness children.
